Last minute Cowper gig last night at the amazing Letterbox Lullabies in Bardon.

Rowley was already set to play with Matt Redlich’s “The Lonely Sea And The Sky”, but a last-minute withdrawal from the gig left us with a surprise Cowper set as well.

the avid reader tour…music, books, and err…what was that third thing again? oh that’s right. surfing. hmm. new board? check. waves? uh…

so it’s been flat, but that’s not bothering me one bit. new roads, new towns, new beaches…and don’t forget i can always fall back on the guitar.

the next show is coming up, and i’m just about to cover the last 300km between me and the venue in Newcastle. The gig is 6pm Thursday 5th Nov at Maclean’s Booksellers (69 Beaumont Street, Hamilton Tel: 02 49 692525) in what should be a pretty little early evening gig. Can’t wait! Hope to see you there.

The Cowper curtain sweatshop is in full swing tonight – between now and breakfast I’ve still to pack, sew curtains, install a new stereo and connect the solar panel. Luckily I’ve some helping hands. Yay for the extended Cowper family!

a farm is a perfect place to unwind after a long time spent rehearsing for a gig. i thoroughly recommend it. even if it does mean standing in a cold creek mending barbed wire fences, getting a nasty cold and then infecting other friendswith it

thanks again to everyone who came to the gig – we’ve now successfully managed to restore the several hundred kilos of gear back to our respective studios from the troubadour – you have no IDEA how many freakin’ stairs that place has!

anyway, whilst we are scrounging up another gig, finishing off a video and hitting the studio for some proper recording, jaymis was nice enough to output a video sampler from the gig for those who missed it. it’s “kite song”, the very very new addition to the cowper family. i hope it is liked. thank you, that is all!

i have a secret checklist. on it are only a handful of things, and the pursuit of said goals instills in me a quiet fervour and giddiness that is often revealed to few in the form of a mile wide grin like i just ate all the chocolate.

if you have a checklist, i strongly suggest you add the following : “float upside down underwater playing invisible ukulele whilst breathing through a machine”.

Rowley’s Gigustation Birthday Party was a gig with a difference. He simplified the birthday present process by stipulating that our presents to him would be coming along bringing awesome food, and listening to him play music.

Of course, we couldn’t help but give him a present for all his hard work. So a Novation Remote SL MIDI keyboard was in order.

After which, it was music all the way through:
